Chiesa Parrocchiale dei SS. Giuseppe e Biagio in Stresa

Despite not being the most important church in Stresa (the parish church is located in the old town centre), this church has a special charm that makes it a favourite with couples who choose Lake Maggiore as their wedding destination because of its secluded and panoramic position in a hilly area with a beautiful view of the Borromean Gulf and Lake Maggiore. A curious note is that the church of San Biagio, built around the year one thousand, was originally on the lakeshore.

Then it was abandoned and reduced to a ruin for mysterious reasons: some speculate about an earthquake, others about the sinking of the lake, others about a plague. At the end of the 18th century, it was decided to build a new church, this time on a hill, on the site where it stands now. The neo-Gothic façade dates back to 1933, when the church was further extended and renovated. It has a beautiful churchyard paved in cobblestones and adorned with Buxus plants.
