The Sacro Monte of Orta is a monumental complex dedicated to St Francis, located on the top of a hill behind the town. In 2003, UNESCO named it a World Heritage Site. One of the most beautiful views of the lake can be enjoyed from the square of the medieval Church of St Nicholas and St Francis.
