It is the only clear evidence of the medieval abbey of San Silano. The original function of this place is shrouded in mystery. Used since the 18th century as a wine cellar, it contains a pictorial cycle dating back to the second half of the 15th century, attributed to Bartolonus da Novara. The late Gothic frescoes, which cover the walls and vault, tell the biblical stories of King David, depicted as the exploits of a noble knight in a language close to courtly culture.
